An initiative to provide uninterrupted education during the Covid-19 pandemic
by raising $100,000 for 270 students
Every contribution to the campaign helps students affected by COVID-19 pandemic to continue their education
* Amounts As of September 16th 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted over 90% of the global student population. Of the roughly 32 million students in India, most face a financial and technological impediment to tools and infrastructure that are vital for virtual learning. To support the education focused initiatives of Jnana Prabodhini in India, we aspire to raise funds to support 270 most financially affected JP students in 5 different regions. As the schools run by Jnana Prabodhini operate without any government grants and aid, we hope to sustain these schools without compromising the quality of education, during these unprecedented times. #EducationMustGoOn
Jnana Prabodhini Prashala, a non aided school located in Pune provides education and hostel facilities to students coming from nearby city areas. We aim to support 25 students in the following academic year.
Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya, a partially funded school located in Nigdi provides education to students from pre primary to high school. The Gurukul project is centered on the theme of ‘Education through the development of Panchkoshas (Five Sheaths of Personality), while Kreedakul (Sports Academy) aims to coalesce science and sports to develop national and international players. We aim to support 77 students at Jnana Prabodhini Nigdi.
Jnana Prabodhini Harali is a residential school that caters to 270 students from Harali and 100 surrounding villages. JP Harali, from its establishment, does not charge students from Harali and subsidizes fees for those from surrounding villages. We intend to financially support 101 students at Harali.
The Jnana Prabodhini Skill Development Institute in Shivapur aspires to inhibit the urban migration of rural youth. This institute provides certification courses and vocational training and production workshops. We have supported 17 youths enrolled in the highly demanding Turning course (Lathe Machine Operator) who will be highly sought after in neighbouring industries.
In Velhe, Jnana Prabodhini established ‘Girikanya’, a housing and skill development program for women in the neighbouring villages. Girls from primary school to women taking an undergraduate course are welcomed to take advantage of this program. We aim to raise funds for 50 women for the upcoming year.
Having raised $71,000 since the launch of Learn India campaign on July 5th 2020, we hope to continue raising funds to support more students who have been financially affected by the COVID pandemic.
