MUKTI campaign
On the occasion of Women's History Month 2021, JPF launched a Women's Leadership Campaign to empower 100 women in India through 2 high-impact Projects
Mukti
Freeing women and their families from the clutches of the hazardous tobacco industry by providing an alternative sustainable employment
Majority of the 50000 workers employed in the Solapur cigarette rolling are factories are women, earning their daily bread through this work. JPF is dedicating its effort to free these women and their families from the clutches of the hazardous tobacco industry by providing an alternative sustainable employment in the form of cloth and paper bag-making.
$400 is what it takes to completely enable and sustain one woman to leave the dangerous cigarette rolling occupation permanently and take on the alternative occupation of making cloth and paper bags.
A $50 donation from you helps one woman to stay away from the cigarette rolling occupation for one complete week. This amount covers the cost of logistics, raw material, equipment and machinery set-up, and training cost for the women to learn stitching and printing on the bags.
Micro-financing for Rural women
Providing financial resources to women in rural areas to take initiatives in running small, seasonal businesses
Jnana Prabodhini has been actively working on nurturing leadership among rural women by running Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for more than 25 years (1995 - present). Jnana Prabodhini offers ways to obtain financial reosurces to women in rural areas of India to take initiatives in running small, seasonal businesses such as handicraft, ornaments or investing in agriculture.
With SHGs, rural women convene together and earn trust amongst the group before actually drawing funds. Transparency and Trust are core to the success of these groups. Local group leaders, who often emerge from the same system, understand these dynamics better. This self-sustenance culture leads groups to success in the long run.
Once a woman regularly starts attending these meetings, she can simply submit a handwritten loan application to receive a loan which she later repays in future meetings. Your donation helps an SHG in various ways
-
It provides initial seed money for a new group
-
and or provides financial support for existing group
-
It builds rotating capital for women entrepreneurs
